FAQS

Each bin has a maximum weight limit. See the sizes for further information. All skips must be filled level and no higher than the fill line, otherwise we may refuse to collect it for you.

If you are unsure what size you need, give us a call for some advice.

Just give us a call. We will aim to collect your skip as soon as possible.

Yes, we can arrange road permits if you need your skip to be placed on a public road. We will apply to the local council on your behalf. An additional permit charge will apply. Please let us know at least a week in advance, so we can arrange the road permit in time for delivery.

Mini and Midi skips are for up to 2 weeks, larger skips up to 4 weeks. We are flexible and willing to negotiate the time period if needed.

We understand that jobs run over, and we strive to give you the best service possible – but we do need the skips back within a reasonable time period. If you need the skip longer than the hire period, we will do our best to accommodate this, but there may be an extra charge.

This can be anything from ‘within the hour’ to a few days. Multiple factors effect this, the sooner you ring us to tell us that your skip is ready, the sooner it goes.

We don’t allow anyone to request specific times for deliveries and collections. On a logistical level, this just doesn’t work. Traffic throughout South Wales is a major reason behind this policy.

When you speak to the team upon booking, we allow you to state your preferred time, such as AM or PM, but this cannot be guaranteed.

Skips are used for the removal of non-hazardous waste, such as building debris, household items and green waste. If you need to dispose of hazardous waste, you need special permits and containers. It is illegal for you to mix hazardous waste with non-hazardous waste.

We don’t accept asbestos, plasterboard, tyres, paint, fridge freezers, gas bottles, batteries, knotweed, contaminated soils and tree stumps.

Your waste will be processed at a registered waste transfer station in accordance with all UK legislation. We recycle around 90% of the waste that comes to our station and aim to send the rest to Energy-from-Waste. Energy-from-Waste is a form of energy recovery whereby waste is processed into a fuel source. Landfill is the last resort.

This depends on the size and quantity of your waste. Skips are normally better suited to the removal of dense and heavy waste, but can of course be used for any legal waste items.

Our skip size guide should be able to help you, but if you’re still unsure call 02920 862 328 for advice or send us an email.

By law you MUST NOT over-fill your skip. To ensure the skip is safe to transport, you must make sure that it is not filled past the top. Over-filled skips will not be taken under any circumstances.

We need a minimum width of 3m highway, path or lane for the lorry to deliver the skip.

We can deliver a skip into the garden, given that there is sufficient access. Walls must be no higher than 3ft. Some driveways or hardstands can still be quite soft when an 8 tonne loaded skip is on them. This must be considered by the hirer.

Skips placed on the hirer’s property are done so at their own risk. The company accepts no responsibility for damages to private property once invited off the highway. Damage to gates, walls etc. will not be the responsibility of Greens Recycling.

If there are any obstructions that may limit the access of the skip lorry, please mention them when you speak to the office team. Obstructions include:

  • Low access bridges
  • Road access with weight restrictions
  • Power and telephone cables
  • Drain covers
  • Overhanging roofs/walls
  • Overhanging trees

Payments must be made up-front, before the skip is deposited.

Payment over the phone is the most popular option, it’s quick and easy. Give us a ring on 02920 862 328 to book and pay for your skip.
